It has been nearly 4 months since Path of Exile 2 was released into Early Access on December 6, 2024, and it has already surpassed the original game to become one of the most popular MMO games currently! Based on its predecessor POE 1, Path of Exile 2 has added some new game content, and the gameplay is more diverse, so the difficulty has also increased greatly.
When you are doing the end-game challenge, its difficulty must be very tricky for you. Among them, I think Breach is the most necessary to introduce to you, which is a special endgame event you may encounter when mapping the endgame atlas.
In addition, you will encounter three special endgame events: Delirium, Rituals and Expeditions. All events can be generated on the end-game map, and they are represented by unique symbols above each map node on Atlas screen.
And, in POE 2, Breaches are one of the most common features of Atlas. But your trouble is that even if you find Breaches on the map, it is difficult for you to know what it is or how to deal with it. Next, I will introduce Breaches to facilitate your challenges in the game.
How To Identify It?
On the atlas, map nodes with Breach Events are highlighted with a purple icon with a giant hand in the middle of the corruption. As long as you see one that meets these criteria, you can select it.
Next, you click on the giant hand with your mouse, and you will see a large breach circle begin to expand outward.
In the lower left corner of the screen, you should see a new bar appear. As long as the bar is not empty, the breach circle will continue to expand outward, and you will continue to participate in the breach mechanic.
Killing enemies within POE 2 breach circle will continue to fill the bar until it is full, so over time, the bar will slowly deplete. However, there is another piece of information you need to pay attention to. The circle not only affects existing monsters, but it also spawns new monsters, which can significantly increase the number of enemies you encounter.
In addition, Clasped Hands treasure chests will also spawn in the breach circle. You can get POE2 Currency, Splinters, Catalysts, and other Breach rewards from them.
However, as you progress through the game, you must kill enough enemies to do so. If you don’t kill enough enemies, your rewards will be greatly reduced, so to ensure the quality of the loot you can get while running Breach Events, it is recommended that you first buy POE 2 Currency to improve your character’s overall strength to help you melt through enemies as easily as cutting butter.
At the same time, Breach circle will continue to shrink inwards. When it shrinks back to your starting position, it marks the end of the event.
However, all the dropped loot will still be there, and although you can choose to pick up the dropped loot later, if your loot includes POE 2 Divine Orbs, the situation is different. You’d better pick them up as soon as possible, because once you die unexpectedly, these dropped currencies will disappear, which is a big loss!
Breach Passive Skill Tree
Like Atlas Passive Skill Tree, Breach Passive Skill Tree has the ability to modify Breach event, making it more valuable and enhancing your gaming experience in many ways.
You can view Breach passive skills on the far left by opening Atlas, then Breach Passive Skill Tree.
It’s worth mentioning that Breach Passive Skill Tree provides powerful buffs to Breach system, including:
- Crumbling Walls, which can greatly increase the number of available Breaches on affected maps.
- Rising Pyre and Interdimensional Assault, which increase the number of enemies that can spawn within Breach.
- Grasping Hands, which increases the number of Grasping Hands and Magic enemies, which increases the chance of dropping higher-tier loot.
And you need to earn Breach Passive Skill Points by defeating Pinnacle Boss, Xesht, We That Are One.
When you have 300 Breach Splinters, they will come together to form a Breachstone. You will then need to take it to the portal near the beginning of Atlas and activate it to fight the Xesht Boss.
You need to note that there are four difficulties, each of which grants 2x Breach Passive Skill Points, for a total of 8x Breach Passive Skill Points. You can use Skill Points to increase the difficulty of this boss battle, thereby obtaining double the rewards. It is an eternal truth that challenges and benefits coexist.
Rewards
It is worth mentioning that you can get a lot of rewards in Breach. There are two main Breach-specific currencies that you should pay attention to and try to get them, and these are Catalysts and Splinters.
Catalysts are essentially currency items, and their function is to increase the quality of Jewelry. Different Catalysts are associated with different Modifier types.
For example, Carapace Catalyst increases quality but only affects Defensive modifiers, while Neural Catalyst only affects Mana modifiers. Their uses do not overlap. And, the active Catalyst effect always targets the most recently applied Catalyst.
Catalysts are the only things that can increase the quality of your jewelry to the extreme, which can theoretically greatly improve the quality of ordinary rings. If you use Catalysts, you can get Breach Rings that can far exceed the default 20% quality, reaching an incredible 50% quality.
Another unique Breach currency is Splinters, which you can’t miss if you want to take on a more exciting and novel challenge. You can use it to enter the unique Xesht, We That Are One boss arena.
The specific steps are: combine Splinters together to create a Breachstone, then use Breachstone at Realmgate, and then you will enter Twisted Domain, which is the unique boss arena.
There you have a chance to get a richer reward. The unique boss there will drop higher-level loot than usual, and you will get 2 times Breach Passive points when you defeat it.
But the bad news is that you only have one chance. If you die, you have to farm the summoning materials again and challenge again. Have you been inspired after reading this article? I hope it helps with your Breaches challenge.
